CZECH REPUBLIC UPDATE:   OCTOBER 2012

I am enjoying the time I have to spend by myself when I’m not meeting with people, bonding with my host family, teaching English, and working with teens and children. I think there is a perfect mixture of things to do while still having enough time to be by myself and process, and I’m enjoying actually being able to just “doing life here.” I’m simply experiencing what it is like to do life here and to live among the people here. It’s great and it’s exactly what I wanted to do.

I’m excited for what the rest of my time here will look like. I have already made some friends here through Facebook. We got to know each other a little before I came, so we were greatly looking forward to actually meeting! I felt an instant bond with one of them, and I randomly met her while walking home from the bus stop by myself for the first time! These friendships have continued to grow and progress, and I’m excited to have people here with whom I can just relax, talk about God, laugh, and relate.

I also made a new friend while at the conference last weekend. It was a great conference and the ministry that took place there was exactly the kind of ministry I am the most passionate about. I love the ministry of emotional healing, as it is something I myself have gone through and have seen God work through in great ways, so I was excited when I saw how many people’s lives were being changed and healed by God through that ministry!

I have made a few new contacts in ministry, and it is great! I love my Tuesday night English class. One of my Tuesday night students said that she would contact me soon about getting together somewhere, having me over at her home, or introducing me to one of her sons! And I am so excited about these things!

God has already been teaching me a lot, challenging me a lot, and changing me a lot. I’ve reflected on a lot of things so far and it’s always incredible to remember that God often has more than one purpose for everything He does. He didn’t just call me here to serve others, but He knew that He would be able to bring specific change to my own life by bringing me here.-

I am serving in the in the Czech Republic from September through December, 2012. I am excited to see what God is doing during this process and even more excited about serving once again in a country that I love so dearly. I learned to greatly enjoy teaching English through my January experience, and I love using my time to build relationships with people and to get to know and understand the culture better. I love working with teenagers and mentoring them, and I enjoy having fun. I like to play games, to sit around and talk, to sing and play the guitar, to write songs and stories, to watch movies, to laugh, and to go on adventures.

I love how Jesus in His earthly ministry dwelt among the people and became one of them. He sat with them, ate with them, talked with them, and ministered to them. In seeking to live like Jesus did, this is exactly what I hope to do while in the Czech Republic and exactly how I want to live my life. I am excited about everything God has in store for this season of my life and I am enjoying being involved with everything He is already doing through Jodi (Oppenhuizen) and Word To All in the Czech Republic.
